World Autism Awareness Day is April 2nd

 

April 2nd is officially World Autism Awareness Day, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 2007. World Autism Awareness Day is one of just three disease or disorder specific United Nation days. Its activities are aimed to promote autism awareness, and shine a light on the disorder as a growing, global issue.

Take some time today to check out some great sites, and to educate yourself or to educate others.

 CNN.com today features many articles all day in honor of WAAD.

WorldAutismAwareness.org details the development of the day, and highlights the efforts and events planned in countries around the world.

Light It Up Blue, an initiative of Autism Speaks, lit up many prominent buildings all over North America last night.
