The Alarming Rise of Somali Immigrants Affected by Autism in Minneapolis to be Researched

The front page of the New York Times Web site today featured an article out of Minneapolis about a potential “outbreak” of autism within the Somali community.  The article explains that at this point, it is difficult to tell whether or not this increase in cases of autism is a true outbreak, or just a statistical coincidence. 

The Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will conduct an epidemiological survey on this “autism cluster.”
